Sony Ericsson LiveView Details

I recently purchased a Sony Ericsson LiveView from Amazon.Since then I have been using it. Although there are some shortcomings, I'm really impressed to say the least.

Sony Ericsson LiveView
1.3” OLED Screen
128x128 pixels
Bluetooth 2.1
In the Box:       1 Watch strap with Velcro strip,
2 Flanged Spring Bars,
1 snap-on holder for Watch,
1 snap-on Clip (attached to LiveView)
1 Micro-B USB Charger (5V, 550mA)
User guide, Legal Information booklets

The performance of the device is pretty neat. The device works like a charm when connected but constant disconnection causes dissatisfaction. The device disconnects unpredictably possibly due to firmware issue or limitations in it's bluetooth range. The Device becomes unresponsive if the LiveView app is killed. The Music plugin however doesn't seem to be working with my Nexus One.

*Update [Jan 27]:
PowerAmp plugin shows AlbumArt if scrobbling is enabled.
ContactCall has options to select groups like (All Contacts,Starred in Android...) to display in LiveView

  1. You can define a default contact group with a limited number of contacts in ContactCall plugin.

Displaying track details in PowerAMP plugin is possible only for stock Google player, HTC Music and for players which are able to scrobble track info to external scrobblers (ie. PowerAMP can do that and WinAMP can, though the last one requires Last.fm scrobbler installed).

  2. Great! Thanks de_Mark for the tips!...

I did get the group select options for ContactCall plugin.
I also got PowerAmp to display album art.
But even PowerAmp requires Simple LastFm to scrobble content.

  3. It's not enough to enable scrobbling? Simple Last.fm needs to be installed to work?

  4. no..it requires simple Last.Fm/Last.fm or scrobble droid to be installed to enable scrobbling.

  5. Strange. I've just enabled scrobbling via scrobble droid without this one installed and my plugin is able to display an info about track being played.

  6. Strange indeed. Does it work like that only for Xperia phones and needs scrobbling for other brands?

I tried with scrobbling disabled, but did not work. That was the problem earlier, once i installed Last.FM was able to view Album details.

  7. Definitely a scrobbling in the player options must be enabled. But it shouldn't be required to install a scrobbler.
It's required only for Winamp because it will not broadcast any information if the Last.fm is not installed (even if scrobbling is enabled).
The brand of a phone shouldn't matter.

BTW I've changed a plugin name. It's the LiveView Music Plugin now.

  10. Exactly. But you don't need to download and install any scrobbler. Just setting "Scrobbling..." on should be enough for PowerAMP to work with my plugin.

  11. Just verified. The settings you suggested was correct.

I just enabled scrobbling (Last.fm was not installed) and I could view the AlbumArt.
